Day 366: I Made It!!!

Well, I made it.  Here we are on Day 366, the last day of this leap year and the final day of my first ever "365 project."  I hope you enjoyed it.  It wasn't always easy.  Some days after a long day at work, I just didn't have enough time or energy for any super awesome ideas, but every day something was made in one form or another.  Some days were pretty awesome and I couldn't wait to show you all.  Thanks to all those who supported this project, left comments, checked in often, helped me with some of the projects, those who officially follow this blog, and Noah Scalin who gave me ideas from his book 365: A Daily Creativity Journal.  Is this the end of Love One Another?  Nope.  I don't think so, but who knows what the new year holds.  I guess we'll find out together.  Stick around!

Day 365: Football Love

Well, here in the Black and Gold Nation, it's the last day of football.  Oh well.  I'm not going into the whole Pittsburgh/ Cleveland rivalry.  Browns fans need love, too.  (Oh and guess what... 1 MORE DAY!)

Day 364: Cat Toy Art (Laserpointer)

I bought my cat a laser pointer cat toy for Christmas...not sure who's enjoying it more...

Day 360: Merry CHRISTmas!

I hope wherever you are today, you're with someone you love because someone who loves you once came down to be with you.  Merry Christmas, everybody!

Day 359: Christmas Eve

and that means time to decorate the tree in my house.  Merry CHRISTmas, everyone!

Day 358: Sales Ads

It's the Sunday before Christmas and you know what that means... the newspapers are chalk full of ads trying to lure in the last minute buyers.  Not me, though, I'm done and everything's wrapped with a couple days to spare.  Do yourself a favor next year and shop early so you can relax and enjoy the holidays more.  As I always say, if the holidays stress you out, you're doing it wrong.  Happy Christmas Eve Eve, everyone!

Day 356: Let It Snow

It's the first day of winter and the first day of serious snow in these parts.  The flurries kept the windshield wipers on my car plenty busy.  I hope you're safe and warm where you are.  Thanks for checking out my blog today.  I discovered a couple new things in Elements.  (It's only a failure if you don't learn something!)

Day 355: Wrapping Paper

It's become a Christmas tradition: my pathetic attempt at wrapping gifts.  On the bright side, the scraps are great for collage!

Day 354: Candy Day

No spearmint candies were harmed in the making of this post.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Day 353: Gold Day

The book says to work only with gold materials today, but they didn't say what kind.  Are we talking about Saints' gold or Steelers' gold?  Both.

Day 352: Hot Cocoa

Guess what?  Today begins the countdown.  Two more weeks!  I just might make it after all!

Day 351: Sunday Afternoon Doodle

I hope you're all having a nice weekend.  I'm just chillaxing on the couch watching the game.

Day 350: Time for Love

For what happened in Connecticut yesterday, there are no words. This is a time for prayer and a time to love one another like never before.

Day 349: Wait Time

This is what I doodled as I sat in my car and listened to a happy jingle followed by a voice telling me my "wait time was one hour."  (No, thank you!)

Day 348: Photo Booth Fail

I've been waiting a long time to do this one.   I needed to be in the mall or some other place with a photo booth and a friend or two at the same time.  Today, my friend and I were at the mall on our day off and I asked her if she'd do my project with me today.  I brought pieces of bristol board and markers with me so we could write the words.  Well... it didn't quite turn out like I hoped.  You can't read the words at all, but (darn it) I paid my five dollars and I was going to use these images so help me.  I added the words with marker when I got home.  (Ta da?)

Day 347: Sign Language

By trying to take pictures of my right hand while holding the camera with my left for nearly all the letters, I made myself as articulate in sign language as I am otherwise.  Hopefully, I got it right in the end.

Day 346: Fries with That

On the way to work this afternoon, I stopped at a local fast food joint for lunch/dinner.  Like every other American, eating healthier is probably going to be one of my New Year's resolutions.  Until then, yes I would like fries with that... so I can make art with them.

Day 345: Desktop

I keep a piece of foam core on the surface of my desk so I don't have to worry when I get paint and whatnot all over it.  With some added letters from the dollar store craft aisle, it becomes a work of art.

Day 343: Russia with Love (One Another)

As with all of my foreign language posts, I apologize in advance to any and all native speakers if I totally botched it.  (Please correct me if necessary!  I mean well, I promise!)  Anyway, this is a collage I started some time ago and never finished.  It's made up of lyric sheets from a Russian record, images from artist papers, and gesso.  Today, I added some black acrylic, masking tape, and the words in permanent marker.  I've heard this isn't how you would hand write Russian, but the text from the translator was all I had to work with.  I hope you like it.

Day 342: Restroom Graffiti

While out celebrating with some coworkers, I noticed some graffiti on the wall.  Not wanting to commit vandalism, I made my addition digitally.

Day 341: Portuguese

That's right. Portuguese.  Why?  It just felt like a Portuguese kind a day.  (My apologies to all my Portuguese speaking friends if Google translator let me down.)

Day 340: Kinda Weird

Today, I give you another digital experiment.  I was trying fonts and effects I never use and here's the result.  It's kinda weird, but it was fun.

Day 338: Treat Bag

I bought these little canvas bags and tie-dyed them quite a while ago and finally made them into a project.  Filled with candy and snacks, this can make a nice surprise for someone.

Day 337: Domain

While trying to figure out how to do a screen shot on my lap top, I looked up directions and discovered something called the Snipping Tool.  It's under Accessories.  It allows you to select part of the screen and save it like I did here.  And, yes, loveoneanother.com is still available!

Day 335: Matisse Font

This project has given me a chance to experiment more with digital art and graphic design.  I'm still far from being an expert, but hopefully I'm making some progress.

Day 333: Don't Look

This is a prompt from the Noah Scalin book from a few days from now, but today felt right for it.  I didn't look at this at all until it was finished. Not too bad, huh?

Day 331: Cyber Monday

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  I don't really buy into the whole shopping craziness.  Today, though, is known as Cyber Monday and I thought it would make a good subject for today's project.   While I don't at all condone the aforesaid shopping craziness, I hope that if that's what you are into, you consider supporting your local businesses or buying something unique and handmade from any one of millions of creative artisans at Etsy.com.  This is part of a screen shot of my shop with a special temporary banner for today.

Day 329: Felt the Love

I've had these sheets of sticky-back felt in my drawer for months maybe.  Today, they finally saw the light of day and were made into a project.  Originally, I wanted to print a template for the letters, but my printer wouldn't let me on account of the magenta being out.  This printer goes through ink like I go though cookies, I tell you!  Then, removing the product labels made the felt fuzzy so I ended up with making a 4x6 inch project.  I'm not even sure what it is exactly, but I'm going with coaster...

Day 328: Project Remix

Some nights I just stare at my computer waiting for an idea.  Sometimes they are slow in coming, but I always come up with something.  Tonight, I give you "Project Remix" made of pieces from daily projects so far this year.  Enjoy!

Day 323: Music Media Day

Day 323... 43 days left!  Can you believe that?  Anyway, I went by the book again today (imagine that) and it suggests working with music media (CDs, etc.)  I doodled with permanent marker on this blank CD which, hopefully, will soon be home to my "Feel Good Mix" once I can gather together a collection of songs that brighten my mood.  Hope this Sunday finds you well.  Thanks for checking in today!

Day 322: Restroom Signs

Today, the prompt from the book is inspired by men's/women's restroom signs.  For this one, I took the image and "removed the wall" between the people.

Day 321: How to Love Shelter Kitties

Today, the book suggests making a diagram for something that usually doesn't need one.  This is my version and the directions are as follows:

1. Take old blankets to animal shelters.
2. Make dogs and cats happy and comfy.
3. Repeat.

Day 319: Nothing Says 'Love' Like Corn

You can now add a can of corn to list of materials I've worked with this year.  That's due to the fact that at this time of year, different organizations are banding together to put on food drives so more people can have a real Thanksgiving dinner.  So God bless all the people throughout our region who were out in the cold all day today gathering food and donations.

Day 318: Leave a Note

It's the little things.  Sometimes, all it takes is a quick "I love you" on your way out the door.  Would if showed someone some love today by leaving a note?
