What's With the Bird?

Earlier this spring, I participated in our annual spring show for the Corry Artists' Guild.  I entered several pieces including two of the ones you see here.  When I arrived at the show towards the end of its final day, I got asked by several people, "What's the bird mean?"  They had several theories including something about "your thoughts taking flight," "having a 'bird brain,' and I can't remember what else.
The answer is it's a stencil or cutout that I made and it's a sparrow.  It's inspired by a verse from the book of Matthew that says,

"So don't be afraid; you are worth more that many sparrows." (Matthew 10:31 NIV)

It's a kind of reminder that everyone matters, no one is unimportant or unnoticed by God, and he has everything under control so stop worrying about everything.  I don't know about you, but I'm a worrier.  I worry that I'm never going to get my career off the ground and that all my education, experience, experiments, and all the work I've done to this point going anywhere.  But I need to believe that it does.  I don't want to be another art major who gets a degree and then works in a totally unrelated field.  Anybody else?
Anyway, I guess I'll keep plugging away.  He's got things under control and worrying isn't going to help.  That's an easy thing to forget though so I need constant reminders... like a little sparrow perhaps.  Have a good week, everyone.  Thanks for stopping by today.
